R3dRocket's detailed MOAB guide
This is long, because it needs to be.
Alright I figured it is about time to create a detailed MOAB guide to help all those struggling to get one or want to get more. I have a bunch, and usually get one every 10-15 games of trying to get one.
I'm going to start with class set ups. These are going to be your best bets, figured out by lots of trial and error. These set ups are for kill based games with dynamic spawns (KC, TDM, ETC.)
Class 1
SCAR extended mags/focus
Stinger
Portable Radar/C4
Scavenger
Quickdraw
Stalker
Assassin/Steady Aim/Hardline
Maps: Dome, Hardhat, Bootleg
- Even though these maps are small, there are lots of long lines of sight that an SMG is not suited for. The smaller the map, the less you need assassin so just unlock it with your second perk. Watch killcams for heartbeat sensors and the ground for portable radars.
- Scavenger is a must on the SCAR. With the reload cancel, it reloads extremely fast without sleight of hand. Have a Stinger as your secondary to add points to your streak and take out pesky choppers.
- On these small maps, it is very important to anticipate the spawns. Throw down your portable as soon as you spawn to let you know when the other team spawns behind you.
Class 2
PP90M1 Silencer/Extended Mags or P90 Rapid Fire/Silencer
MP9 silenced
Portable Radar/C4
Extreme Conditioning
Assassin
Dead Silence
Sitrep Pro/Steady Aim/Hardline
Maps: Carbon, Lockdown, Bootleg, Underground, Seatown, Mission
- Stay out of the long lines of sight. Your SMG is not going to hold up against ACRs at 200 yards out even if you have specialist bonus.
- Flank (run the outsides of the map to get behind the enemy team) and get to the other teams spawn point and clear them out. Use your radar, soundwhoring, and instinct to notice if IW decided to spawn someone next to you.
- Get in as many 1v1s in close range as possible, especially when you have your specialist bonus.
- Use everything at your disposal. Headglitching, dropshotting, strafing. Not a fan of jump shotting, as it will get you killed half the time.
- Pick your battles. Stay inside as much as you can, moving under cover so you won't get picked off.
Class 3
ACR (or any AR that tickles your fancy) Extended Mags/silencer
MP9 Silenced
Blind Eye
Assassin
Stalker
Dead Silence/Sit rep Pro/Hardline
Maps: Any and All.
- This class is the best all purpose out of the 3.
- Strafe in every fire fight you get in. Stalker is a game changer.
- Once you get sitrep pro, soundwhore as hard as possible. If you hear something, it is likely an enemy because your teammates footsteps are muted.
- Always be moving, and always be moving carefully. Stalker is your friend, aiming down your sights through high traffic areas will save your ass. Getting caught sprinting will leave you moab-less.
General Tips
- Get all the perks pro especially sitrep, steady aim, and recon. Turns you in to Superman.
-Don't stay in one place too long. Eventually they will wisen up and come behind you.
- They best time to kill someone is when they just spawned. If people get to their camp spots, they are harder to take out.
- MOABs are easier for me playing solo because my connection is better, although they are easiest in Dom with a full party where you can hold two flags keep the other team contained in one area.
- When you hear a stealth bomber up in the sky, look up and try to see where it is coming from and get the hell out of the way.
- Use specialist every game. You never know when you can go on a big streak.
- Have a friend run UAVs for you, run UAVs in return. Works out pretty well.
- Strafing is better than drop shotting when you have specialist, except in really close quarters. Remember you get a 10 speed increase and stalker, so you are very hard to hit when strafing especially with an SMG.
- If you take alot of damage, ditch your pride and get to cover. Just run away and regenerate your health. Same thing applies if you have enemies shooting at you from multiple directions.
- Mute your teammates whenever you are on a long streak unless they give good callouts. They are just distractions at that point, and teammates asking you how close you are is just going to take your mind off playing the game.
- Don't play to get a MOAB until you get your specialist bonus. Focus on getting 7 kills in a row first, then go after it. If you play too slow at the start, you might not have enough time to get one.
- If everything is queit, and you don't know where the enemy is then move really slow. Chances are the other team is camping somewhere.
- Let randumbs walk in to the open and go die first, go in behind them and mop up the kills.
- If your whole team is going one way and getting slaughtered, go the other way. Sounds obvious, but I am saying it anyway because so many people just join in and feed the other team killstreaks.
- Pay attention to who you are playing against. For instance, if there is a blind eye/assassin/dead silence fag with a MK14 camping on the ledges in mission but bad kids in the middle with MP5s, then go kill the bad kids.
- In KC if you are close to a MOAB and your team has a healthy lead on tags, don't pick up tags.
- TDM and FFA have the worst players, but also the worst spawns. Choose your game mode appropriately.
- Use your portable radar to your advantage, and throw it in a spawn area. For instance on Lockdown, I run to the other side of the map and throw a portable down in their spawn and clear them out. Pick up portable, move to their next spawn. Repeat.
- When you DO get your MOAB, wait to call it in until you die or when the game is about to end. Trust me.
- When you are running out of time in the game and on a long streak, just go charge the other team. Dying with a chance of a moab is better than playing it safe.
- If more than 2 people are using assassin or dead silence, it will make it tough. Might even want to go to assault depending on the map.
- Find bad kids. Really, really bad kids. If they leave the lobby, go to your recent players and invite them back in. It's just easier to get moabs against bks.
Most importantly, just keep trying. Some lobbies are impossible to get one in, because of connection or quality of the other players, but many lobbies are just chalked full of bad kids.
Happy MOAB hunting.

Nice post r3d... +1
The only thing I question is the "wait till u die or until near end of the match to call it in".. EMP's can prevent you from calling it in.. 9-10, scrub lobbies (moab friendly lobbies) are almost always full to the gills with those.. I call mine in immediately lol. Cuz I know even if they call in a EMP, if the countdown has begun, its already to late for them..

Mushy, hell if I know. The first time I ran specialist was after my 80,000th or so kill because all I played was TDM (shame on me). Had 3 assault moabs before I even tried specialist. Not to mention quickscoping, SnD, and other bullshit that I do where I have a very minimal chance of getting one. I get one every 4-5 hours of gameplay or so when I try for them. I have no doubt in my mind I could be over 150 if I ran specialist from day 1 and only played KC with the classes listed above, maybe more if I played Dom partied up.
- Rocker, the problem with calling in a MOAB while you are still on a streak is the other team will spawn directly around you, every time. It is also harder to soundwhore after a MOAB goes off. On top of that, I have been kileld calling it in like 10 times.

Very good guide R3d. +rep
The only thing I have my doubts about is the same thing rocker mentioned. Bad kids always runs support and think their cool when they call in EMP's. I just call mine in right away to guarantee it doesn't get blocked by the guy that is 16-35.
